Weekly Update

Hi GCN Family,

The resurrection of Jesus is world-changing, not just because it is an event that happened 2,000 year ago. It’s world-changing because we are constantly invited to practice the resurrecting life of Jesus all day, every day, by the power of His Spirit at work within us. My prayer for us: Receive His Spirit daily, extend that hope of Jesus to everyone you know, and live in boldness that only comes from Him. May it be so.

So many good things happened at Mission Advance this past weekend…
This past weekend, several GCN-ers were a part of our church district’s Mission Advance. This is a gathering of people from over 100 churches from around MD, DC, DE, and parts of PA and WV. In addition to praying together, hearing missional stories together, and taking care of business items, here are the big highlights:

  • Pastor Kevin Liddle received the Timothy Award! Pastor Kevin has served as our district’s NYI President for the past 5 years. His time in that role has now come to an end. In an act of appreciation and honor of Kevin, the district awarded him with the highest award in Nazarene Youth International: The Timothy Award. This award is for those who have dedicated their life to pointing the next generation to Jesus Christ. Kevin embodies this. Grateful to have a great pastor like Kevin in the GCN fam! Congrats, Kevin!
  • Pastor Lauren Miller received her District Minister’s License at the Service on the Ministry Sunday evening. Thanks to many of you who came out and supported Pastor Lauren. Grateful for Lauren, her love for our students and families, and her responding to the call God has placed on her life. God is good!

I’m feeling extra grateful right now, so let me just say: I am so grateful to serve as your pastor. What a great family, and what a fun mission God has invited us into (our mission = to embody the Good News of Jesus to our neighborhood). I’m grateful to serve on such a fantastic team with awesome pastors and volunteer leaders. The local church is the genius of Jesus. As I mentioned this past Sunday, the church is messy, but it’s also so beautiful. Let’s continue to be a place where people who do not know Christ can belong before they even believe. We trust the Holy Spirit.

Much love,

Pastor Brian
