Weekly Update

Hi GCN Family,

You ever feel like you don’t know which end is up? I don’t know what you’re going through this week, but maybe it’s been a difficult week, month, or year. On Sunday, Pastor Karen reminded us of this: “Even in those moments when it feels like we don’t know which end is up, here is which end is up: God is always with us. He will always be with us.”

The book of Revelation is a highly image-driven, prophetic book. It’s a revelation of Jesus, in all His glory, to the disciple John while he was facing extreme persecution on the Island of Patmos. This revelation was then sent out as letters to seven churches in Asia Minor who were also facing persecution for their faith. In the midst of all the imagery is a very realistic look at the power of evil, Satan, and the difficulty that Jesus-followers will have in keeping the faith. However, the focus of this book is not on the prevalence of evil, or the timeline of events. The main message of this book is: Jesus HAS won the battle (on the cross), Jesus IS winning the battle (through His Spirit at work in the church), and Jesus WILL win the battle (as He reigns forever). Put differently, yes, sin is real and there are powerful forces at work in the world. However, sin and evil and empires and worldly rulers are no match for Jesus. He is the King of Kings forever!

Is He your King? Is He at the center of the throne of your life?
