18-24 Mission Trip to Gary, WV!
July 21, 2010

Welcome to Gary sign Hi Everyone,

I just talked to Pastor Brian and he wanted me to pass along some news from Gary West Virginia! For all the parents of teens, rest assured that your children are doing fine and working hard! They don't have cellular service so I am sending this message to you so you aren't worried! They arrived a little ahead of schedule on Sunday and got themselves settled in. On Monday they split into two groups, with one group teaching VBS and the other group working on a home in the community. Brian said the scenery was BEAUTIFUL! Aside from working on the home, a group of about 10 took some of the blankets that were made by Lynn Stepler and her friends to 3 teen mom's and their children. They had an opportunity to hang out with the families, getting to know them and seeing what their lives are like. It made quite an impact on our teens to meet these girls and their families. VBS There was no serious news on Tuesday (which is actually good news!) and everyone continued on their mission! The weather is quite pleasant, about 75 degrees and not too humid. All of the adults are doing great as well. We appreciate your prayers and ask that you continue to pray for the people of Gary!

The first photo shows Luke standing in front of the unfinished welcome sign for Gary. We plan to landscape and paint the sign tomorrow. The second photo shows a group helping with the VBS this afternoon. (Click on photos for full size image.)
