SERVING OUR CHURCH

"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms."

- 1 Peter 4:10

Service is an essential component of the life of GCN. We are challenged to serve others, for that is when we are most like Christ. All benefit when we do what God has called and gifted us to do.

BUILDING PREP

When we serve, we are most like Christ. Serving develops character and expresses God’s love through human hands and feet. One service opportunity available to all ages is our “Saturday Night Club.” Church friends help out for an hour or two to prepare the church, after a busy week, for Sunday morning worship. Small groups of folks do everything from cleaning windows to vacuuming — all the things that you would do in a home that is preparing to receive family and friends.

CARE MINISTRY

A team of lay people support our pastors in reaching out to those going through difficult times. They provide practical care such as transportation and meals, a listening ear, prayer, and whatever support is needed. Do you or someone you know have a need? Click here to let us know.

GREETERS

Greeters serve at the front doors and in the foyer every Sunday, greeting everyone with a smile, handshake, and bulletin. They help guests find the right classroom, keep an eye on the parking lot, and provide assistance to anyone who might need it.

FOOD TEAM

Volunteers can serve by preparing coffee and light refreshments each Sunday morning before and after service.  We also need volunteers to prepare meals throughout the year for youth group, all-church dinners and other special occasions.

TEACHING

Our teachers are Christ followers who set an example of the Christian life to their students. They prepare well every week and pray over their lessons and for their students. The teachers are also available to them, if needed, and follow up and call students who are missing.

USHERS

Ushers stand at the doors of the sanctuary to greet and, if needed, provide assistance to those who enter. They also take up the offering and help with communion and baptisms.

WORSHIP TEAM

Sunday services are a big deal for us and music is a significant part of those Sunday services. Our music is a blend of contemporary praise songs and timeless hymns. Do you play an instrument?  Let us know!  Everything from guitars, cello, violin, and drums to piano and organ accompany our singing. Do you sing?  Let us know that, too!  Are you a geek?  We need sound techs, video techs, and folks to put together slideshows and edit video. Maybe you’re into drama or art or you’re a story teller. We’re always looking for ways to make our worship and preaching services multi-sensory, engaging, and life-related.
