The Life We Can Have In Jesus

I’ve been circling back to the Gospel of John this week and those “I am” statements of Jesus—“I am the bread of life,” “I am the true vine,” “I am the light of the world,” and so on.  I realized about Wednesday morning that every one of those descriptions has something to do with the restoration, protection and sustenance of LIFE—our LIFE, the LIFE we can have in Jesus!  This time of year is a reminder that you just can’t keep life  down!  Those winter trees are budding, those daffodils are pushing their way up through the cold, hard winter ground.  The third day after Jesus was crucified death couldn’t keep Him down!  I love the lyrics to that new song we sang last Sunday, Living Hope—
Then came the morning that sealed the promise
Your buried body began to breathe
Out of the silence, the Roaring Lion
Declared the grave has no claim on me

We’re going to be singing another new song on Easter Sunday called Ain’t No Grave and it has a refrain that says, “If you walked out of the grave I’m walkin’, too!”  And that’s our hope!
