Love Lifted Me

Pastor Ben Spitler

May 10, 2019

I’m looking forward to being together on this Mothers’ Day Sunday!  We’ll honor our ladies, especially our moms.  Of course, we’ll gather to sing and worship and hear God’s Word and be encouraged in our faith.  We’ll sing a new song on Sunday—Love Lifted Me!  Check it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWnqLKcCIWA
It’s inspired by the hymn with the same title.  That hymn and this new song both include the line, “when nothing else could help, love lifted me.”  There’s a lot of truth in those few words and my greatest desire for you is that you know, intimately and experientially, the deep love of God for you.  Lamentations 3:22-26 was on my mind as I woke up this morning—

Because of the Lord 's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
24 I say to myself, "The Lord is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him."

25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,
to the one who seeks him;
26 it is good to wait quietly
for the salvation of the Lord .

Don’t know what might be consuming you today—fear, doubt, anger, lust—but God’s love and mercy and faithfulness, most often received through a brother or sister in Christ, is your deliverance.  He’ll lift you up and set your feet on solid ground.  Hope you’ll seek Him, wait on Him, hope in Him and let Him do that for you today.
