Life is a Gift
Pastor Ben Spitler
Here are three random but hopefully encouraging things to share with you on this Friday! First, there was a new young lady at the young adult group that meets at our place last night. She was welcomed by what has to be the best group of young adults on the planet! Yay! But as encouraging as that was what I heard afterward about how this young lady, a new Christian, came to Christ. It was because of the positive, faith-testifying posts she would read from her believing friends on social media! That was good news! Be encouraged by that and keep those social media posts positive and faith-full. For guidance, Ephesians 4:29 comes to mind—Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen (or read!).
Second, you’ve heard the phrase, “no time like the present.” Just reading that right now might prompt you to consider doing something that you’ve sensed God leading you to do for a while but that you’ve been putting off. Go for it! But when I used the phrase in a message this week, it was a reminder to me that life is a gift! Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.(James 1:17)
Finally, I’m going to make you a promise for Sunday. In my preaching I’m not going to tell you what to do (I’m an exhorter and I tend to do that :), I’m simply going to tell you what Jesus did—and still does. It will be good news. Hope you can be there. And hope today is a good day for you!
