CHILDREN AND YOUTH

Our Children and Youth Ministries point children and students to Christ, fulfilling the mission of making disciples who learn how to go and make more disciples. These ministries are for those aged 0⎼18, nursery through high school graduation. We believe that parents are their child’s most important disciple-makers, and we seek to partner with them to accomplish this.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

Jesus called on His followers to make disciples of all nations — and that includes our own children. Our primary goal is to provide a loving, safe place that offers each child an opportunity to receive Christ as his or her personal savior. We provide age-appropriate biblical teaching from birth through grade 5. And we take their safety seriously; all of our teachers have completed an application process, including a background check. Classes are taught by two teachers at all times.

During Sunday morning services, children can attend infant and toddler nurseries, preschool and elementary Sunday school classes, and Kids Church. Children in grades 1-6 can participate during the week in Bible quizzing, which gives an additional way to study a book of the Bible. Vacation Bible School and District Children’s Camp, including outdoor activities, crafts, and great chapel times, provide fun summer activities. We also encourage our children to take part in music ministry.

YOUTH MINISTRY

GCN Youth Ministry is committed to coming alongside 6th to 12th graders – and their families – and leading them to Christ. We do this in various ways: Studying God’s Word in community, learning how to be a disciple and how to make disciples, and serving others in our church, local community and schools, and world. Our desire is to partner with parents in helping students go deeper in their relationships with each other (the church), those who don’t have a relationship with Christ (evangelism and disciple-making), and most importantly, with Christ.

Sunday Night Youth Group – SHIFT/FUSION

Students in grades 6-12 gather each Sunday night from 5:30-7:30 pm. We meet together in the Life Center (gym) for a meal, time of worship, message, and some fun games. From week to week, we rotate between a message/worship night and a small-group night. SHIFT/FUSION is a great time for a student to connect with our church for the first time.

Sunday Morning Discipleship – SUNDAY SCHOOL

Our middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12) students meet in separate groups on Sunday morning at 9:00 am.  This is a time of studying God’s Word and praying for each other and our world.  One Sunday each month is devoted specifically to leaving our classroom and going out into our world to serve.  From delivering a meal to an elderly person to random acts of kindness around our community, we go out and practice what we learn in God’s Word.

Youth Events and Serving throughout the Year

GCN offers numerous ways for students to go deeper in their walks with Christ. Here’s a sampling of these opportunities: Teen Bible Quizzing, 30-Hour Famine, Spring Retreat, Summer Teen Camp, Mission Trips, and Serving Days.
